Articles > Private drug testingPrivate drug testing Federal narcotic testing guidelines established by SAMHSA/NIDA give the official laboratories opportunity to report quantitative results for the "NIDA-5" drug tests. If one needs independent private drug screen he can verify specific substances concentration at home or seek help at professional laboratories, which ensure confidentiality. One can test himself or his relatives for presence of various narcotic substances including prescription medications such as synthetic pain killers such as Oxycodone (Oxycontin, Percocet), Oxymorphone, Hydromorphone, Hydrocodone (Vicodin), benzodiazepines (Valium, Xanax, Klonopin, Restoril). In the early 1990s Gamma-hydroxy-butyrate (GHB) was not tested for, but nowadays, some laboratories have added it as an optional test. Ketamine (Special K) may or may not be checked for, depending upon the preferences of the individual paying for the test, though testing for Ketamine is uncommon. Basically, the greater the number of drugs targeted, the higher the price of the test, that’s why people choose only substances they really want (e.g. their children) to be tested for. There are some other drugs, which are not commonly tested for such as meperidine (Demerol), propoxyphene, fentanyl and methadone. Also hallucinogens such as LSD, mushrooms (psilocybin) and peyote (mescaline) are rarely tested for. One can undergo recreational drugs test in a privacy of the home. It is possible to check the concentration of metabolites of the following narcotic substances: Cannabinoids (marijuana, hashish - tests for metabolite THCCOOH), Amphetamines (amphetamine, methamphetamine), Cocaine (cocaine, benzoylecgonine, cocaethylene) - tests for cocaine metabolite), Benzodiazepines (BZO), Opiates (heroin, opium, codeine, morphine, 6-MAM), Phencyclidine (PCP), Methadone (MTD), Barbiturates (BAR), Tricyclic antidepressants (TCA), Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA or ecstasy). It is really progressive that one has alternative to test himself or his children independently from official labs and get reliable and safe results.
